That depends on the individual. Ninety nine percent of our new clients do just fine attending a Beginner class. With a maximum of 12 clients per class, the Trainer can modify exercises to suit differing abilities. Although still quite intense, classes are broken down using simple exercises so all individuals get the most out of their workout. If you have chronic back pain, are coming back from an injury or are pregnant, a one-on-one session would be best to assess your situation. We do however reserve the right for Owners and/or Trainers to restrict clients to a particular class type for safety reasons if necessary.
You must always start with a Beginner class, even if you have done Pilates elsewhere or are quite fit. KX Pilates uses a lot of small muscle groups, you’ll be surprised how challenging the class might be and may need to build up your strength. You also need to familiarize yourself with the KX Pilates dynamic training method, basic principles and exercises, so that you don’t hold up the pace of a more advanced class.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first class. This is so you’ll have time to familiarize yourself with the studio, fill out a registration form, meet your Trainer and have a quick rundown on the reformer bed you will use during class. If you’re late to your first class you might not be able to train. No mobile phones during classes (please be respectful to others).
Appropriate clothing is essential as you are going to work up a sweat! We recommend gym tights, leggings or shorts and either a t-shirt or singlet top. It is compulsory to wear socks at all times in the studio and in class.
We provide complimentary towels, drinking water and have changing facilities on site. Some of our locations also offer shower facilities – please check with your local studio.
With a maximum of 12 clients per class, our small group classes allow our Trainers to focus on each individual to achieve maximum benefit.
Exercise is such a personal thing. How often you train will depend on your fitness level, how your body adapts to the training and how well your body can recover. It also depends on your fitness goals and what you do outside of KX classes. We recommend starting with no more than 2 to 3 classes per week and increasing from there.
Unfortunately, no. We have a strict 4 hour cancellation policy for group classes and a 24 hour cancellation policy for private classes. If you can’t make your class, it is your responsibility to cancel or let us know at least 4 hours (for group classes) or 24 hours (for private classes) before the start time of your scheduled class to avoid losing the credit for the session. We understand that life can sometimes get in the way, but we need to be strict and fair to all clients.
All of our classes include a warm up and a cool down. Warm ups to start a class are important to avoid any injury. If you are more than 5 minutes late to your class then you may not be able to join, and your Trainer may turn you away from the class.
With a maximum of 12 clients per class, our small group classes can get booked out. With our 4 hour cancellation policy there is movement in the classes, and we recommend you add yourself to the waitlist by booking yourself into the class. Should a place become available you will receive a whatsapp message or sms notifying you. You will be required to confirm receipt of the message. If we do not receive a response from you it is assumed you will not be attending the class and will give the spot to the next in the waitlist. If you know you cannot attend more than 4 hours prior to the start of class, please login to Hapana and cancel early to avoid being charged and to allow us to offer your place to another waitlisted client.
When starting at KX Pilates, we ask that you attend at least 8-10 Beginner classes to familiarize yourself with our dynamic training method, basic principles and exercises before proceeding to an Intermediate class. We then recommend completing 20-30 Intermediate classes before trying out the Advanced classes. Once you’ve achieved an Advanced level you can mix and match classes to suit – it will never get boring! Are you ready to change levels? An easy way is to ask your Trainer after completing your class. They’ll know if you’re ready to move into a more advanced level.
Sure you can, however you will need to create a new account at each studio separately and purchase a valid session pack for each studio individually.
Unfortunately, no. The booking system won’t let you. You will need to log out of one booking system and close the window down before opening a new one for a new location. Alternatively, you can open multiple internet browsers, one for each different studio location.
We do not allow suspensions or extensions on your Introductory Offer (2 weeks). Please be aware when purchasing your Introductory Offer you will be required to use your pass within 2 Weeks respectively. Any unused sessions will expire. Alternatively purchase a block session pack (valid for 12 months).
The Introductory offer is only available to new clients of KX (first timers) and is activated from the date of your first booking. You can only use the Introductory offer once per person and this cannot be used in conjunction with any other opening offer. You have a 2 week period to use your 3 sessions and any unused sessions will expire.
You can only attend group pilates classes up until you’re 15 weeks along. Before booking your first group class, please contact your local studio for a list of qualified pre and post-natal Trainers. You must inform your Trainer what week you are up to at the beginning of each class, as modifications of certain exercises will be required. You must also have your Obstetrician complete the Pregnancy Authorisation to Exercise Form and return it to us upon arrival at your first class. For further information, please download and have a read of our Pre and Post Natal Exercise at KX Information Sheet.
Please wait until you have received the all clear from your 6 week check-up. Complete the Post Natal Exercise Questionnaire and bring it to your first class. It is also strongly recommended that whenever you start back at KX Pilates after a break; ensure you begin again in a Beginner class.
No you cannot. We do not recommend bringing your baby to the studio as we do not provide child care services. Please organize a babysitter to look after your baby off the premises.
We ask that you wait until after you receive the all clear from your 6 week GP/Obstetrician check up to make sure that everything is healing well and there are no diastasis recti (abdominal separation) issues.
It depends how far along you are. If you are new to KX Pilates, we ask that you not start our classes until after your pregnancy. For current clients, you can attend group classes but only until you’re 15 weeks along. After this, due to our dynamic style of training, you can no longer attend group classes.
Yes, we offer both 1 on 1 and 2 on 1 Private Classes. If you would like Private Classes with training tailored to your specific needs, please contact your local studio.
It will depend on your injury and your road to recovery. You may need to get a medical certificate from your GP/Physio before you can attend, or start with a private class to assess if classes will be appropriate in the future. It’s best to speak to one of our Trainers before participating in a class to make sure you’re not putting yourself at risk of further damage.
Yes you have to be over the age of 16 years old to attend a KX Pilates class. Our dynamic classes are not suitable for young growing bodies.
